Sumac/Mountain Ash Art Bowl

This bowl is mesmerizing. Technically very difficult, the result is worth every hour.  Starting with a 3 x 7-inch rectangular block, we developed a bowl with a rim that becomes wings on each long side, with the lines for the bowl flowing through a gentle arc and plunging down is such a way that the grain lines cascade down to the bottom. The wood has a natural chatoyance that imparts a unique glow. This looks good standing up, laying on either of the long sides or resting on either end. We love this piece!!
