Seldom Seen Laburnam Bowl

Commonly called "Golden Chain", Laburnam is rarely encountered by American woodturners, although it is more common in Europe. The wood is simply gorgeous! The sapwood is creamy white, the heartwood is a beautiful dark golden brown with lighter grain lines and accented with occasional "rays" running through. Because it is very hard, it polishes and burnishes to a silky smooth finish with a satin luster. It is easy to fall in love with this wood, and the form of this salad bowl makes it nearly impossible to resist.
