Turning project: Architectural columns
I recently accepted a project to turn 3 columns for a house in Seattle that was more than 100-years old. The surviving column was of red cedar, and measured 5.5” by 5.5” by 60 inches long. Fortunately, my lathe can turn 24-inches by 66-inches long.
I contacted a local lumber dealer that specializes in red cedar and they agreed to cut some logs to the dimensions I needed…for $175.00.

I set the timber up on the lathe, located the exact center on both ends and marked the centers. On one end I screwed on a 4-inch diameter face plate using 8 screws, and used a center punch to mark the other end for a live center.
Silvia and I mounted the timber on the lathe between the spindle and the tailstock, adjusted the speed to 800 RPM (no vibration) and adjusted the tool rest.

Accuracy is critical because I am making a reproduction…so I transferred dimensions (distance and diameters) from the sample (old) column to the timber in increments . I go for one feature at a time, turning a band, bead or on ovulo as we go.
Because Cedar is a soft wood, I had to be very careful not to tear away any of the wood with an aggressive or uncontrolled cut. Even a sharp gouge left a very rough surface….arrgh!! So what to do? The best tool for this occasion was my 1 3/8” Alan Lacer skew.
Red Cedar is a very abrasive wood, which demanded frequent sharpening. Many many many checks with tape measure, 6-“ rule and calipers allowed me to create 3 reproduction columns in 9-hours.
Putting them side-by-side, any slight differences are negligible, and when installed 8-feet apart they look identical !!!

A demanding, and very satisfying project.
The customer was happy and I was happy for a difficult job that turned out well, keeping in mind that only one mistake means that the valuable wood was useless….we can’t put the wood back!!!

How to Recover Stolen Cryptocurrency – “Hire a Hacker” Crypto Scam Recovery#POSITIVEREVIEWONCRYPTORECOVERY.
After much deliberation on how to invest my recent work benefits, it’s like these scammers know when you are vulnerable. I was reached out to via IG about a crypto investment program by a so-called page called “Cryptfx_Trader.” They forced a Ponzi scheme down my throat, and out of my ignorance, I fell for their tricks. I am a senior citizen who wants to leave a good legacy for my grandkids, and investing in crypto was the best thing to do, and Bitcoin is the future; that’s what those scammers persuade me with. I believed in them as they were organized, and we usually talked for hours. I gave them all my benefits via multiple transfers to 3 different wallets. It’s been months, and there has been no positive outcome from this investment, despite its intended purpose. I want to back out, but my account has been hijacked, and my funds have been restricted. Disrupted, I sought out looking for help to get back all my lost investment. It was a tussle getting the best crypto recovery expert. I finally found DUNENECTARTWEBEXPERT, fortunately, they were the answer to my prayers. I engaged in their services, and a well-guided recovery process was what I welcomed. In March of this year, my Bitcoin wallet was hacked after I unknowingly clicked on a phishing email. Within moments, I was locked out of my wallet, which held approx $287,000 worth of BTC. The experience left me feeling angry, helpless, and deeply frustrated.
I immediately sought help through the proper channels, reporting the theft to authorities, but they couldn’t assist with Bitcoin recovery. That’s when I was referred to a private investigator by a mutual contact. This investigator introduced me to Morphohack, a cyber recovery service. I was skeptical at first, naturally cautious after being scammed, but I reached out anyway.
Morphohack responded quickly and professionally. After providing them with all the necessary documentation and wallet details, their team began tracing the movement of the stolen Bitcoin. Over the next four days, they worked to track the funds through the blockchain, using advanced forensic tools and strategies.
To my relief, they were able to recover the bulk of the stolen BTC, about $269,000 worth. While a small portion couldn’t be retrieved, I was extremely grateful for the outcome and impressed by their transparency and expertise throughout the process.
Morphohack not only helped me recover my assets but also guided me on improving my digital security to prevent future incidents. I highly recommend them to anyone dealing with crypto theft. Their support made a huge difference when I needed it most. Morphohack team can be contacted via E-mail: Morphohack@cyberservices(.)com
